Wedding Favor Advice

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely, Ms. Debbie, who asked if I ever allowed guest writers to post on my blog. After considering her offer for a guest post and the topic she wanted to write about, I was game.

Today, she's offering a little piece of wedding advice for all of you engaged gals- myself included. Check it out below.

How to decide on your wedding favors

One of the most fun parts of planning a wedding is picking out the favors! While I am researching ideas for my wedding, I want what I pick to not only reflect who we are as a couple, but I want it to be something my guests will really enjoy! Here are some points I am keeping in mind while deciding on my wedding favors.

First, I am thinking about the favors I have received while attending weddings of family and friends. What did I think of the favor and what (if anything) did I hear from other guests about the favor? One wedding I attended gave what was similar to a Christmas ornament with the couple’s names and their wedding date. It was cute, but this was a summer wedding and Christmas was the furthest thing from my mind. Also, as a friend, but not a close friend, why would I want a Christmas ornament like this? Like I said, it was cute, but would not have been my choice. So I am looking at favors that can have both a “neat” factor reaction from my guests, but could be something that will actually be useful.

Our wedding will be during the summer and we are heading to Florida for some beach time as our honeymoon. So one item I am considering is this starfish wine bottle stopper as a wedding favor from Wedding Paper Divas. To me, this is something that shares our honeymoon plans with our guests. Plus, it is something, I hope, our guests will use long after our wedding day is behind us.

All our friends and our family know that my fiancée and I enjoy the outdoors. So another favor I am considering is this tree saplingfrom the Arbor Day Foundation. Our guests can bring this sapling home and plant it with their family. Hopefully, it will take and they will have something that will truly last a lifetime! Plus, it will help support the efforts of the Arbor Day Foundation and work to preserve nature.

The final favor I am considering is something that will, just like the Arbor Day Foundation, help support those non-profits we donate to whenever possible. So we are thinking about picking one or two organizations and taking the money we would’ve spend on favors and make a donation to those organizations. Right now, my fiancĂ© and I are thinking of donating to a local animal rescue or our local food bank . Then, we will put a personalized note at each guest’s seat to let them know what we did. Hopefully, if we decide to go with this option, our guests will appreciate the thought!

What wedding favors have you thought of? Which wedding favors, if any, did you go with?

Nashville, Cowboy Boots, and a Meet & Greet!

Hi y'all! I'm Jessica and I blog over at Blissfully Miller, which houses my ramblings for our DIY projects, recipes, my style, being a newlywed & new homeowner and any and everything in between!!

I'm planning a weekend getaway to Nashville with some of my blogger besties..So naturally I started a 'Weekend Getaway' series to help me pack for the trip! I've already outlined the travel day essentials, if you missed it - check it out here! This week I wanted to depict a casual night on the town.. and since our destination town is Nashville, cowgirl boots are a must! I have been loving the dress with boots combo, so that was a must for me! Add a few pops of color with accessories and you're ready to hit the town honky tonks!

Huge thanks to Jaime for letting me take over Toby's Tails!! :) If y'all are wanting some amazing recipes, be sure to check out my blog for Taste of Tuesday!

Your Go-To for DIY!

Hey there love muffins! I'm Allison and I blog over at Texas Mrs.

I hope you don't mind me taking over Toby's Tails today. But it just so happens that I kinda sorta adore Jaime. There may be a little over 346 things that I enjoy most about her, but let's just cover one of the big ones today. It all boils down to two little words: DIY Projects.

Over the past couple of years, Pinterest and I have become BFFs.

Pretty much every weekend, I am hitting up Hobby Lobby for my latest needs. And you bet your sweet little heart that I have made some pretty awesome stuff. For instance, this beauty here:
It's completely perfect for the upcoming holiday, amiright?! Speaking of, that just so happens to be my favie holiday of all time. Yes, even more than Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I love celebrating baby Jesus being born. However, there's something about red, white, and blue that makes my heart go pitter patter.

Some other not-so-patriotic projects that I've made are...

+ A cute Mr. & Mrs. sign to hang above my dresser.

+ A cake stand with candle stick and plate of your choice.

Anyways, enough about me. Have you seen the projects that Jaime has made?! They are adorbz.

+ This jewelry cork board
(Probably my fav. I may or may not be a wino.)

+ State mugs.
Now that I've sufficiently overloaded you with Pinterest projects ideas, I'll leave y'all alone. But if you ever want ideas, head over to my bloggity blog and see what I'm creating up next. Happy Monday (said no one ever.) Except I'm gonna say it... HAPPY MONDAY!

Married Master Moodboard

Hey Toby's Tails readers! I'm Veronica and I blog over at Passion, Pink and Pearls where I blog about just that...my passion for the Lord, relationships, and interior design; my favorite color, pink; and pearls, my favorite accessory and the tidbits of wisdom I pick up in life, pearls of wisdom.
I've only recently got to know Jaime and so far I'm just loving her and her blog...plus she just got engaged! Which is awesome because married life is simply the best! Did you see her wedding dress options yesterday? Gorgeous lady!!

Today, Jaime has given me such a great honor in having the opportunity to give her a re-design of her master bedroom! Jaime's master bedroom is already one of my favorites boards I've done. If you're interested in seeing a couple other's I've done you can check out Karla's master bedroom from last week or Becca's kitchen from the week before.
And if you want a room of your own done, then fill out this form!
I'm doing concept boards for FREE for a limited time only! So hop on it now!
Okay onto Jaime's bedroom:
THIS week, I've got a sophisticated yet eclectic and more gender neutral bedroom for the fabulous Jaime over at Toby's Tails. Jaime is looking to update her bedroom, trade in the girly for the gender neutral so her man will feel more at home...which is even more important now because SHE JUST GOT ENGAGED!  How exciting, right?! He did a super sweet proposal and she got a beautiful ring!
Source
What is your design style or vision?
I would love to see an iron bed in my bedroom. Possible white/neutral bedding with accent colors in the decor... I have an eclectic taste (not everything has to match)...

What are you overall goals for this space?
I would just love to make my room more neutral for my boyfriend and we both LOVE the iron beds. Functional and simple pretty much defines us.

Next up we have some images Jaime sent me links to that she just loved. --->
And one piece of furniture she wants to keep in the design:

I pretty much adore her furniture piece she already has so there's no reason to get rid of that beauty!
Surfing around Jaime's blog, I came upon a post she did on her living and fell in love with one of the photographs she took --->
Yellow is uplifting, bright and cheery while navy is luxurious, deep and charming...the two together create a masterpiece for any room, and a romantic getaway for a bedroom.
Jaime said she wanted a cool look with neutrals yet pops of color...I think theses pops of color will be the best to accent her room and bring a touch of femininity and masculinity into the room.
Concept Board:
The idea for Jaime's room was sophisticated, eclectic, charming and luxurious.
A charming bed frame with deep, rich yellow and navy in the accents with luxurious bed spreads and soft plushy blankets.
Jaime mentioned she could paint in her rented place but she would have re-paint when she did move so I opted to not paint. The SW color sin this case serve more as a color concept for the overall atmosphere of the room. The neutrals are in the basics and large piece of furniture while the colors are brought in through the accessories like the lamp and throw.
I also tried to blend femininity and masculinity in the bedroom so her soon to be husband will love it as much as she does.
What do y'all think?
What would you change?

Beth Bradford Design Giveaway: Update and Reveal

First of all I want to say a great big thank you to Jaime, and hello to all of the Toby's followers!

I have been designing and photographing since forever and am so glad that Jaime introduced me to the blogging world.  I am having so much fun.

Blog design has officially rolled everything I love about what I do into this amazing adventure that I get excited about every day.  From the beginning, I wanted my passions for design to help my clients creatively show off their personality.  Personally, I think humans are pretty freakin' smart.  When I get a new client, I get excited about their goals and all their awesome ideas.  I just hope to be able to take what's in their head and project it into a brand that they will love!  That is what drives me.  The excitement of my customers is better than pay, any day.

When Jaime had me redesign the Toby's Tails Blog, ideas just kept coming.  Doing a giveaway with her was such a great opportunity and I'm so glad we did it.  The winner of the giveaway received a full Custom Plus Blog Design.

Danielle over at the Short Small and in Love blog was the winner.  She told me of her love for peonies and soft colors, as well as her adorable pup.  Through all of the inspiration she gave me I created one of my favorite designs!

I hope everyone enjoys her new look!  I am going to start posting about my designs and will be featuring her design and blog this week along with a freebie, so be sure to check it out!

Happy Monday everyone,
Beth Bradford

Stress Relievers Guest Post: Allison Leighann

Hey all!
I'm Allison from allisonleighann, and I was asked to do a guest post for Jaime while she was busy this weekend. Busy-ness is something that I can definitely relate to, as finals are about to hit hard at my university, and professors are loading up on the work we have to do in preparation. So I figured, since everyone is super stressed right now, a list of things to do to calm down would be helpful.

// watch step up 3. while, yes, it is awful acting, the dancing makes me want to relive my childhood and make my mom put me in dance classes. i mean, really. i want to dance like that. in the rain. and have some extremely talented yet downtrodden attractive young man fall in love with me. that's realistic, right? plus, it's what distracting me at the moment, so i know it's good for distraction.

// take naps. because naps are always a good option. especially if it's raining outside, your paper is due in two days and you haven't started on it, and you have nothing to do for the next three hours.

// exercise! okay, so this one is actually serious. i'm not an athlete, and i'm not really even in shape, but when i'm stressed out and exhausted, i take a walk around campus or walk down to our park and back. walking even just a short distance can help me feel so much better.

// get a friend to pop your back. no lie. my roommate will step on mine every now and then, and you'll feel SO much less tense when you're done.

// read a NEW book. i read a lot, but when i'm busy, i don't take the time to get into a new book because i absolutely know that i'll get too intoxicated by it and won't do my work. but sometimes, when stress is breathing down your neck, you need to get away for awhile. and if you're a reader, a new book is always a good option. and i shamelessly recommend Looking for Alaska, Perks of Being a Wallflower, or A Great and Terrible Beauty.

// get as much sunlight as you can. i love storms just as much as the next person. i love the rain, lightning, and definitely the thunder, but if i'm in a bad mood or down about anything, i need the sun. if you've gotta study for a test or have a paper to write, why not sit outside where it's sunny and, hopefully, warm?

// embrace your sweatpants and yoga pants for the last three weeks of school. this one is pretty self explanatory.

overall, just take a deep breath and be thankful for all that you've been given. there's always someone who's worse off than you are. even if it's as small as someone who has three finals on a day that you have two. smile, give that poor person a hug, and know that you're going to get through it.

also. watch this. it'll make you smile.

have a good weekend, everyone.
xoxo

Blop: A Boyfriend's Worst Nightmare

 Toby's Tails
<div align="center"><a href="http://tobystailsblog.blogspot.com" title="Toby's Tails"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7rCTM00Caf5jYePCix-2bG-aI067Mg8xwC6mceCmXMxx9AS2MD3pZjcBCkrkY_yl-qedeXcoXVSF6pNXrza_FVe7eQDx55kU1zPlZEiKqg9my_BqqbPTBkOcuX8PnHX5WFdOtLWbPx5iv/w497-h373/2013-02-26" alt="Toby's Tails" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

Okay ladies, grab a button and a cup of coffee, link up, and mentally prepare yourselves for the unleashing unveiling of my oh-so-amazing, and yet sarcastic boyfriend, Chris. I've allowed him to guest post today so please enjoy and leave lots of comments letting him know how he did.

***********************************************************************************

Disclaimer: The contents of this blog post are a reflection of the sole opinion(s) of Chris and do not in any way reflect those opinions held by blog master supreme Jaime.

Hello, my name is Chris and this is my guest blog post.

You know a blog post is going to be super legit because it starts with a disclaimer. Seriously. At this point you need to ask yourself a question, “What kind of blog post begins with a disclaimer!?!”  The answer to that question is astoundingly simple; the kind of blog post that is written by the significant other of a blogger A.K.A. as a “guest post”.

After reviewing the contents of this blog, I now realize that unfortunately most of Jaime's followers know me best from the blog posts in which Jaime either; (a) not subtly hints that I should propose to her ASAP, or  (b) portrays me as an alcoholic who drinks to cope with this blog.

Only one of these things is true.

That being said, I would like to offer the followers of this blog the opportunity to get an unbiased glimpse into my mind, as well as the opportunity to read a post on this blog that is, for once, not about a cross eyed cat or getting engaged. Enjoy.

Alright truth be told, I was supposed to write this guest post more than a month ago, but for various reasons I have not been able to until now. Actually there is only one reason: Jaime. See, about a month ago Jaime and I had the following conversation:
Jaime:  Hey Chris, when are we getting married?
Me: Jaime you know the rule!  Every time you ask me when we are getting married, I add another month to the date I was going to propose to you.
    Jaime: (Silence)
JaimeWell in that case, I think you should do a guest post on my blog. Look at all these other guys who guest posted on their significant other's blog! I'll let you write about anything you want!
Me: I can write about ANYTHING I want?
    Jaime:  I didn't stutter, that's what I JUST said
Me: I want to write a guest post about all the instances in which female bloggers were tracked down and killed by stalkers. It can be a DIY article your followers can actually use: how to not be hunted down and killed by your stalker!
Jaime: ....Maybe next week. I'm going to do a post about making a bulletin board from wine corks instead.

True story. I really hope that none of Jaime's followers were killed in the last month because Jaime would rather post about wine cork bulletin boards than inform her followers about potentially lifesaving advice.

Anyways, about two days ago I finally got Jaime's permission to write a guest post  as long as I stuck to the topic  "6 things your significant other thinks about your blog." Here it goes.

1. The blog is no longer a hobby...it's a living thing. Jaime has named hers Blop the blog- apparently after Pete on The Office. Blop is now in a relationship with my girlfriend. I call her and she's too busy with Blop to talk to me. While I'm glad that Jaime has Blop in her life, there are times when I question my own sanity because even I'm starting to refer to Blop in the third person.

This is what I mentally picture Blop would look like in real life.

2. Jaime mentioned the word "Blop" 10 times in a 5 minute telephone conversation we had last night. I actually think I invented a new word by accident, because at the end of the conversation I said " Well I guess I will let you get back to blopping". As in a new verb: To blop. I still cannot decide if it was a stroke of genius or a flash of insanity...I'll let you be the judge.

3. All of your meals or time spent together will be documented with pictures...none of which will be used for anything other than Blop. I now find myself cultivating a weird daydream in which I'm finally discovered by a modelling agency solely because of all the pictures of me on Blop.
I need everyone's advice right now on an important personal question for me: Yes or No: Should I start charging Jaime a royalty fee for every picture she takes of me??

Brad Pitt and I have one thing in common; we both feel like we are constantly being hunted down by the paparazzi.

4. Pictures sent to you from shopping expeditions will now include the subtitle "do you think this will look good on Blop for 'What I Wore Wednesday'". And the potentially EVEN scarier thing: I now send pictures to Jaime of stuff I see with the subtitle "I think this would look good on Blop for "What I wore Wednesday."

What?!? I liked how he matched his outfit with his shoes that day!

I still don't understand why she didn't post this one on "What I Wore Wednesdays"  either.  I mean look at his sweet turquoise Navajo Indian necklace. Can you say ACCESSORIZE!!!

5. Now, rather than the usual open ended question "when are we getting married", it's "when are we getting engaged so I can start posting about my wedding plans?!" I still have mixed personal feelings on whether I like this change or not. It was a serious personal quandary for me for quite some time (by that I mean like 15 minutes while I was shopping with Jaime once). I once even made a venn diagram comparing all the good things Blop has done for me, with all the bad things Blop has done to me, but my diagram was inconclusive because everything was in the middle section.

6. I have used blop so often in text messages that now my iphone autocorrects any word starting with the letters "blo" to blop. I once sent a text message to my roommate that said " Tell your girlfriend hurry up and finish blop drying her hair...she's hogging the bathroom and I need to take a shower". Now all my roommates constantly make fun of me in front of houseguests, because they think I don't know the real name for a blow dryer. I KNOW IT'S CALLED A BLOW DRYER!!!!!

Not a blop dryer.

Bonus Blopper: In honor of my virgin guest post on Blop, Jaime has reluctantly allowed me to do somewhat of a giveaway/discount. Today only, you can get ANY ad/sponsor space for 50% off! Just go here and use the code "TOBYFORHIRE".

Well that's my best shot at a guest post. I hope I didn't blop it too bad.

Chris
